Thanks Yall

Well I finally did it! I finally decided to come out of the shadows of all the great bloggers out there talking about thier Braidlocks and Sisterlocks and just ....locks, and joined the revolution! Whoo hoooo!
Oh by the way my name is Y've and had it not been for the Lockitup Group and these blogs I discovered I would not have had the audacity to lock at all! I just lurked and read and read some more emailed some folk and made a decision to lock.
Ok so I don't have Sisterlocks. I had my reasons the number one being that I could not find one in Arkansas and the price it would have to taken for me to get to Texas and pay to have it done. So I decided on the latter since I found out that there were sisters who were doing it and had success. I locked from my micro braids.
I asked online about technique what tools to use everything before I made a move. Then one day I took out that latching tool and locked the new growth from my head with the extensions still in it yall which meant my locks if I had cut off all the perm and extenstions would have been lil bitty rice pegs. I was so not ready for that so I locked and kept the extensions for about a year and a half total. What a limp noodle right? But I was so used to hair be it a perm my braids I needed some hair.
Til February of 06 when I woke up one morning and knew there was no way that I could keep that mess on my head not another day and cut it all off to the locked hair.
Everyone in my house was traumatized except me. At that moment I was free! I could wash my hair without worrying about braids coming down, I could just be me and no one else.
So to begin my blog I want to thank all of you for your candid posts about your journeys and how you all are doing. It has been empowering and a strength for me especially since I was the only child my mother had with Caintchidontchi (Can't you comb it don't you try) hair.
Brunsli for the hair ties and the drive with your career
Creyole for your posts about your family and history ....my family is from Natchitoches!
Blackqofi the beautiful smile you portray in all your photos and that hair oh how beautiful.
Thank your for the DFW gathering photos ....the sisterhood was obvious and all the wonderful locs!
I could go on and on about the strength and the differnt blogs I sneak a peek at but I just wanted to say thank you first to all of you.
And ...
Welcome to my blog where no more kitchens is my new motto!
